Robert Raised £500!! but needs your help to raise more.

We are Stacey’s Homely Haven – a sensory Caravan at Cresswell Towers in Morpeth in Northumberland. Our aim is to be known by all, to be accessible for all. We know how hard it can be, and as Robert has got older so does, he - he becomes more aware of himself and others around him. He is a people pleaser; he does not let his disabilities stop him or phase him – he gets on with it. He has suffered anxiety, and some very dark thoughts in the past, mostly when he was in the wrong setting, but fortunately after YEARS AND YEARS of battling, he is in the right places and on the right paths. Part of this is his caravan – he wanted a caravan, he wanted to make it so “he could help other kids like him”, it may be Stacey’s Homely Haven but it is Roberts Caravan.

As such Stacey’s Homely Haven is all about letting Robert give back, from the sensory set-up curated by Robert to the homely and relaxing touches added by Stacey and Alan. (us - his parents!) – by getting involved with charities – not only does this allow us to get our name known by all it also helps Robert give back. Raising £500.00 for Baldy Holly has given Robert a massive sense of accomplishment, but……………..

It isn’t enough

Jamie Bell, aka Baldy Holly, is the lead singer of The Baldy Holly Band, who are in their own words are; -

“An Internationally acclaimed high-energy rock n roll outfit, entertaining fans and clients alike, with their gutsy renditions of the 1950s classics”

If you haven’t already heard of them, we urge you to check them out – FANTASTIC is an understatement!

We happened to meet Jamie by chance through his other job and when he told us about his 1000 mile cycling challenge from Lands End to John O’Groats in JUST 10 DAYS to raise £60,000 for a new specially adapted minibus for Sir Charles Parsons School in Newcastle, we had to tell Robert.

Robert Helping – BONUS!

Now Robert being Robert, and with this being for his own school he HAD to help and so he offered his caravan as a prize. To be honest at first, we weren’t completely sure how this would work, but after a brief discussion with Jamie and a bit of a brainstorm it was decided we would bonus ball it off. If you are not familiar with this concept this entailed listing numbers and selling them off with a weekend stay in his sensory caravan as the prize– we wanted to aim high but not impossibly high – so we went for 100 numbers at £5 per number with a draw live on our Facebook page to announce the winner.

Now, here’s the thing – Jamie helped through the Band’s Facebook page, and they have a huge following but we didn’t expect it to be so successful – we sold them all in just over a week!!! This raised £500.00 for the cause – but felt limiting – Robert is over the moon and grateful as is Jamie – it feels fitting at this point to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU TO ALL THAT ENTERED, we wouldn’t have raised it without you, BUT………………………………………………………

WE CAN RAISE MORE!!

Jamie and the Band are still short by £24000 at the time of writing, this is after the epic cycle through wind, rain, hell and high water across Britain with its very typical inclement weather, despite all this Jamie was still singing and in high spirits the entire journey.

Presenting the cheque to Jamie and chatting to him, hearing about his journey and the amazing people he met on the way, just makes us want to help this amazing, genuine guy out even more, so we have decided to sell raffle tickets to help add to the pot.

They are £2 a strip available through our Facebook page - simply click the button and comment on the post or drop us a message.

We will send you a photo of the strip when purchased, the draw will be held on 30th June 2024 LIVE on OUR Facebook page.

Our caravan has been cited by many to be a home from home, and rated as exceptional on booking.com - we have our own parking space right by the caravan with an accessible ramp leading onto a small balcony by the front door.

As you enter (after you’ve taken your shoes off of course 😊) you can enjoy the spacious front room with our cosy electric fire and mood / sensory lighting and double doors leading out onto the main balcony– the lighting isn’t over the top nor in your face we want this space to be relaxing for EVERYONE– not a non-stop disco.

In the kitchen we provide a coffee machine, air fryer, microwave, oven, electric can opener – basically everything you will need, we even provide a loaf of bread and milk – so you don’t need to stress over going to the shop after that long drive of are we there yet? – there is likely to be food in the freezer – from us – you will be welcome to use – we operate a “if you can see it – use it” policy.

Did we mention the welcome pack of fruit or biscuits? Your choice. Or the themed rooms if you want them? Think I forgot about the streaming services we include as well – you are probably best to check out our website or even better buy a raffle ticket to win a stay and experience it for yourself!! DON’T MISS OUT - £2 for a weekend away – can you go wrong – the more you buy the greater the chance of winning – howay! even £20 worth is a bargain – even if you don’t win -its gone to a very worthy cause and made Robert even happier.
